TTC- HPV- MTHFR- Negative pregnancy tests, lots of symptoms?
I’m going to my obgyn in an hour, but I’d like to see if my fellow yahoo-ers can guess what the doctor might say. My fiance’(Age 27) and I (Age 24) have decided to try and have another baby, we have not used Birth control since june 2009 but just started actively trying to get pregnant a month ago.
I have 2 children- one healthy and one with multiple disabilities and birth defects(no doctor can diagnose one specific syndrome). My fiance has never had any children.
I had a period 2 and a half weeks ago but it only lasted 3 days- 2 days short of normal.
I’ve had lots of cravings and eating about double what I normally do
Pain and cramping during and after intercourse
Frequent urination
constipation
migraines
nausea
I took an home pregnancy test last week that was a clear negative, but the symptoms got worse and I was sure the test had to be wrong, so I bought two more.
I took a test last night and this morning(I’m very impatient, LOL!)
Both tests showed negative, but this time the negative signs were extremely light, almost invisible, but there is no sign of the positive line at all.
I do have MTHFR- a rare genetic defect that can lead to complications in pregnancy.
And High risk HPV- High-risk HPV viruses may cause cell changes that can lead to cervical cancer over time if these changes are left untreated. Usually, these high-risk HPV types cause no health problems at all and go away on their own.
I will check back in with you all around 2 pm to let you all know if the doctor can find anything wrong or not.
The doctor did a pelvic exam and a pelvic ultrasound, which she saw free flowing fluid around my ovary. This means I had a cyst burst causing the pain.
I believe you’re right, rtperry2 about the other symptoms, very good info!
Thanks so much! ![]()
Let’s hope the cysts can stay away for a while!

Sounds to me like you’re just past ovulation (can’t say for sure b/c I’m not sure how long your usual cycles are) and are beginning to experience the symptoms caused by the progesterone increase that occurs just after you ovulate. These mimic pregnancy symptoms exactly, because the high levels of progesterone required to maintain pregnancy CAUSE most pregnancy symptoms (including but not limited to: queasiness, abdominal bloating, occasional cramping, constipation, headache, aching gums/teeth, listlessness and/or mood elevation.)
Give it two weeks (when your period should be near) and test again. I actually would make a Dr’s appointment and have a blood test done at that time, rather than doing a home pregnancy test, because of the complications you mention — if the test comes out positive, the doctor can then IMMEDIATELY make another appointment with you to discuss/help deal with any complications.
Best of luck and baby dust to you!
